Indigenous vs. indigent is a good way to put your foot in your mouth if you use the latter for the former.
People could get quite indignant if you did that.

It’s kind of weird that we 100% used the term Indian for so many centuries.

There’s a guy in our friend group who is whipped (figuratively, at least) and I mentioned that he was pretty uxorious.

Reminds me of using “unctuous” not long ago and somebody was like, “Gross, don’t use that word in front of people.”
just a fancy way of saying oily
