I think it’s dangerous to try to replace Biden as the candidate with less than 5 months to go.
I think they need to focus on keeping the office - campaigning as a party and as a team. Focus on keeping the OUT.
Afterwards, he can step down if need be but if that blob gets back into office, it would be disastrous. I’ve never really thought that about the office of POTUS. I thought it was awful the first time, but recoverable. But I don’t think we could survive a second term of him. He’s already done long term damage.
Did you watch the debate? Live, as it was happening, not the clips of it. Those first 20 minutes from Biden were frightening to watch. Watching clips of it does not do it justice, or even watching a recording of it, because you know the outcome was that it went on the full 90 minutes, and Biden, while still terrible, did eventually get better. It was one of those moments where time slowed down. I thought “this can’t possibly go on like this for 90 minutes, someone will need to get Biden off the stage, this is it for him.”
Yes, replacing him is a huge risk. For me, after sitting through those extremely uncomfortable moments, it seems like a no brainer.
50-60M people supposedly watched the debate. There is no doubt in my mind that had the same thing happened in 2020, Biden would have lost. Too many people watched and went through the same thing. They will stay home this time. My vote won’t matter for the election in any way, but I was solid Biden before the debate. I don’t know if I can still vote for him.

I don’t disagree we should have a better candidate. Of course we should. It’s just not an option this year. You’re not voting for Biden, you’re voting against
My vote won’t matter, I am not in a state that will be close.
I know that Trump is unfit for office. I now wonder if Biden is unfit as well. I can suck it up and vote for a bad candidate over Trump, I am not sure I can vote for one that I believe is unfit.
This is a real problem, I would not be surprised to see Biden polling in the 30s on Monday.
I don’t think I’m voting for Biden anymore. I sure won’t vote for Trump but if the Democrats are too stubborn to put up a real candidate then they don’t actually care about preventing Trump from getting elected so they don’t deserve my vote.
I think being able to think and form sentences is important for a president. The debate just happened to be where I found out that Biden seems like he can no longer do this very well.
That’s why I’m saying they need to run as more of a team. Harris needs to show that she can run things and the party can run things so that we can keep MAGA out and folks don’t have to vote directly for a black/woman (cuz god forbid )
Look, pretending like this is an acceptable situation if the Democrats can still make a change does absolutely no one any good. If our government won’t survive a second round of Trump, even more reason for the Democrats to put up a candidate people will want to vote for. Right now, we have two unfit candidates, with the consequence the impending end of American democracy.
Do you think the arguments you are using to try and convince me to vote for Biden are going to go far enough to convince the same 81M Americans from 2020 to show up again? I am way closer to a Biden vote than a lot of them.
