Political truths that are worth sharing but aren’t funny

The Taliban is anti-separation of mosque and state, BTW.

So much for the WH ballroom being totally paid for with private funds.

White House Ballroom: Senate Republicans on Tuesday added $1 billion for security enhancements to the White House East Wing into a bill to fund immigration enforcement. The measure, which Republicans intend to pass through a special process despite Democratic opposition, doesn’t mention Mr. Trump’s plan to replace the demolished East Wing with a large ballroom. The president has said the ballroom would be paid for with private dollars.

It is basically a Military security bunker with lots of data storage.
With a ballroom on top.

It is tough to be a mid-size country. The US, Russia and China are all interfering in Canada to encourage the separatist movement in the province of Alberta.

imo he took those titles in his first term. He has of course broken his own records in the current incarnation.

I know that this is a statement about gerrymandering, but, there are Californians and New Yorkers packing up their moving vans (some of whom are heading to TN…) who would like a word with the cartoonist about whether this is the best theme to use.

This says more about Republicans than it says about Democrats.

I am plenty “liberal” or whatever label you choose and could easily move from a red state to a blue state and find the idea of doing that pretty extreme. I’d even consider the idea of moving further out one day to a deep red part of my state because you know what? Having opinions about your neighbor’s politics is a pretty big waste of brainwaves if you can step back and recognize the other 95% of life are things you have in common.

Tax burdens vary by state from around 5-13% and average around 8-9%. This could be a motivating factor, likely by wealthy retirees that find no other reason to be tied to where they live. For everyone else, is 4% of income going make the top 5?

So after that, then what?

I agree, but I think that the context of the cartoonist being based in Tennessee makes the image a bit more understandable.

(Also, I will admit that my having grown up in Memphis, which is effectively going to lose its Congressional representation with this gerrymander, causes this image to resonate a bit more with me, even despite the odor of corruption that surrounded Memphis’ D congressman during the years that I lived there and was politically aware.)
