I thought Trump’s opinion was that running is bad because a heart could only beat so many times.
Yup. He is fluid in his thinking.
Cross posting from the P&C thread for the political angle
I didn’t feel right putting this in either the authoritarian milestone or the WTF threads.
It was a Subway sandwich, so I guess the guy’s at risk of an elevation of charges to “assault with a deadly weapon”.
I was a juror once in a case in which one of the charges was assault and battery with a deadly weapon, namely the floor. We found him guilty of everything else, but none of us bought into that one.
Since we don’t have a specific Epstein thread…
Up to the aggrieved to prove it is false, isn’t it?
Carville should check his sources before spouting off.
Just like the old days.
Burn, baby, burn.
Teaching students how to identify misinformation is apparently pretty easy to do with moderate success.
One of the few encouraging things I’ve read recently.
The Vancouver high school system has a module on the critical appraisal of information and its sources. Probably the most important skill that students learn.
Since I can’t decide which thread to put this in…
Federal tax dollars / federal deficit spending at work: National Guard called in for DC ‘crime emergency’ ends up spending the day picking up trash outside the White House – Sinhala Guide
Seems like they could just hire the homeless people to do that instead of rounding them up and…who knows what they do with them. Would be cheaper, but wouldn’t instill fear in the populace, so the choice is obvious I guess.
Doesnt that seem odd? I feel like someone in authority at the national guard ordered this to make a statement. Like, if they have nothing to do, the default is to…continue to do nothing. Somebody had to direct them to stop doing nothing and start doing garbage detail.
I thought it was conventional wisdom that, besides needing a distraction from Epstein matters, part of the motivation for Dear Leader’s takeover of the District was that he got tired of seeing homeless people, litter, and graffiti when being chauffeured to/from his local golf club.
Putting the National Guard on litter duty fits completely within the “beautification and restoration” part of his command.
Besides, if we’re paying millions of dollars for National Guard troops to be in the District…might as well put them to work.
Releasing them from duty or having reports of them just lounging around wherever they’re being quartered would be too close to an admission that Dear Leader made a mistake.
After all, we all sing the praises of how Dear Leader is always right.
Trump is requesting $2 billion from Congress to beautify DC. Well, the area of DC near the Capitol. It’s not clear what is expected to cost that much, but among other things, he apparently doesn’t like the DC street lamps. So the national guard being put to work on it totally fits.
Are they insufficiently golden and tacky?
