Beyond stupid IMO. Don’t understand why taxpayers should subsidize data centres at all, given their nature. I wouldn’t want one in my neighbourhood.

My speculation was incorrect.
The tl;dr seems to be:
- Cartels are now using drones around El Paso and Juarez
- Military wants to use its toys to shoot down drones.
- Military doesn’t seem to be interested in working with the FAA to ensure that only drones are attacked, and not planes.
- FAA felt forced to close the airspace to prevent an unfortunate incident.
The weapon, later identified in other outlets as a high-energy laser, was used earlier in the week to target what turned out to be at least one mylar party balloon, unnamed sources told the outlets.

Big protests going on in Brazil because of these kids.
They basically only got a slap on the wrist due to their behavior given existing laws about animal cruelty.
They also broadcast the entire thing on Discord.
Laws regarding animal cruelty should be strengthened. My view of this is that its not just due the obvious (reducing animal cruelty), but also that the same people usually go on to abuse people later on.
Jesus Christ. A 700% surge in weapons funding, explosives, anti-drone lasers, sonic and microwave cannons. And ICE is gearing up to use them on US residents, as they fire tear gas and pepper spray and shoot rubber bullets freely. What the fuck are we doing?

When I was looking for a doorbell cam, I ruled out Ring completely due to their efforts to expand the surveillance state. Breaking up with Flock is a great start.
Our Ring started falling apart after a few years so we just replaced it with a Tapo. Bonus is there is no subscription to store the videos - it just has an SD card onboard and cycles through just like our dashcam.

It’s a bit strange to me that libraries are doing this in the first place. On the other hand if this is a program that’s been in place for a long time, why are they wanting it stopped now? It seems like this government constantly chooses to go things that inconvenience “average people” but are likely non-issue for the well off.

More in particular, it makes it more difficult for people to obtain proof that they’re not someone ICE should pick up, send across the country, keep them locked up for weeks, and ignore any court orders about.

We got our last passports from a local library. The experience was SO!!! much better than previous experiences in going through the post office, which I’d assume is way better than any government office. They were much more friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

Georgia has a few largely undeveloped barrier islands. It’s one of the few places left that contain these important habitats. Cumberland Island is a national treasure IMO. Let’s leave it be.
Georgia has 1/3 of all the saltwater marsh on the east coast.
You should also visit if that’s your kind of thing.
