I have a hard time with anyone describing him as honest or intelligent. But I guess that is perhaps the result of a close ended poll question. Doubt I would use either of those words for Biden if you asked me to throw out a few of them, but I would probably check the box next to honest if it was on a list.
Really wish that Trump would lose more challenges on his “national security” excuse. He has so abused it.

a friend today was railing about taxes being high in our state (MN). then said he believes that 50% of all taxes were lost to fraud. I told him I disagree with that figure. he lowered it to 25%. I still disagree.
I clarified that it is high and too high. But the budget is $67B. Even if he thinks it is $10B that’s 15%. I think it is high and likely somewhere near $1B. but…that’s 1.5% of the budget.
If he thinks less than 1.5% of his household budget is waste fraud and/or abuse, he’s probably wrong on that too.
More of this in the US please. I’m pro free speech, but will never believe that the 1A applies to CSAM.
The European Commission said Monday it is “very seriously looking” into complaints that Elon Musk’s AI tool Grok is being used to generate and disseminate sexually explicit childlike images.
“Grok is now offering a ‘spicy mode’ showing explicit sexual content with some output generated with childlike images. This is not spicy. This is illegal. This is appalling,” EU digital affairs spokesman Thomas Regnier told reporters.
“This has no place in Europe.”
Complaints of abuse began hitting Musk’s X social media platform, where Grok is available, after an “edit image” button for the generative artificial intelligence tool was rolled out in late December.

Meanwhile the subreddit related to Grok (very NSFW content therein) seems to be full of people upset at what had been a gradual escalation of moderation shifting to a sudden clampdown in the past couple of weeks.
Folks who had been amusing themselves by creating their own porn are very upset, as attempts to instill anti-kiddie-porn / anti-turn-pictures-of-your-colleague-into-porn measures start to exclude, let’s call it, “distasteful to some, but purely fictional don’t yuck others’ yum” creations.
I’m getting old. I hadn’t really thought about using “big name” AI for such image/video generation until the earliest rumblings of this popped up in my surfing. But I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, as in my lifetime, a significant element of the adoption of any major technical advance has been its adoption for pornographic / prurient uses.
I hate to point out that the genie is out of the bag. It looks like there are tools available to do this sort of thing on your own hardware. The big name AI tools absolutely need to have guardrails…but folks wanting to get around those guardrails will find a way.
(That Elmo whetted some folks’ interest with Grok probably accelerated that development, unfortunately.)
