Political Stuff That Doesn't Fit In Other Threads But Aren't Worth Starting A New Thread For

I’m looking for some amateur vidoes, not the censored version.

Alternate view of the booing during the national anthem. Professional journalist tweeting, but it looks like non-professional video. I think the censorship was mostly limited to his not being featured on the jumbotron but for a few seconds.

Someone else shared video of his being introduced…and it looks like the reaction was more mixed:

Sad that he went to NYC to be seen, only to be not seen on the video screen. CWC should have learned him his lesson, but Trump.

According to the NYT, the enhanced security resulted in the match being delayed for 45 minutes and then starting with hundreds of people still waiting to get in.

That may make people irritable.

This is a paywalled link, buyt you can get around it by searching for the title on Google, and clicking through from there

Consider what he could do if he did.

The 26 pointers in the playbook near the end of this article are eerily relevant in respect of Trump despite being written in 1838. Autocracy hasn’t changed.

Wow, Steve Bannon’s still got it.

We don’t have a true Epstein thread and maybe it’s worth starting one. There is a Maxwell thread but this content is pretty far removed from that topic so parking this here.

That is so gross!

They got Colbert; now they’re coming for John Oliver.

This is what an actual free press can do:

Too bad the broadcast starts at 10 pm.

I expect the BBC and The Guardian will also not have fawning coverage of his visit.

Putting it in political simply due to Trump hating windmills so much…

I was attending some meetings on offshore wind power today. The EU is targetting 60 GW of power from offshore wind by 2030 and 300 GW of power by 2050.

Canada is targetting 5 GW of production licensed off NS by 2030, and in production by 2033. The province currently peaks out at 2.4 GW of energy demand.

NL is looking at that amount or more from onshore wind for green hydrogen exports to Germany. I don’t think that will happen, but if the province could get over it’s fear of wind power, it could save them some money on replacing/upgrading old infrastructure, particularly if paired with wind backup.

NL is also negotiating on construction on a bunch of new hydroelectric power with Quebec in Labrador and a renegotiation of the Churchill Falls agreement.

Cheap power makes attractive location for data centers. And aluminum smelters, but data centers might be slightly more environmentally friendly.

More environmentally friendly, but not a lot of jobs for the power used.

It looks like some Brits have done a bit of redecorating in Windsor, in honor of Dear Leader’s state visit to the UK.
