Thread for when you do something nice for someone and it ends up costing you.
I’ll start
Tonight after work, my niece’s car broke down. She called me and told me about it. Didn’t ask for anything. She had a class to get to so she called for a tow and her daughter came to pick her up.
Knowing her car will pbly be in the shop a couple days (they can’t even look at it until Wednesday) I offered: have daughter bring you here and take my car. I don’t need it until Thursday.
She’s a single mom, decent job but taking night classes to move up. Trying hard. So I offered my car.
On her way back from class, in the middle of the freeway at night, there’s a freaking 6’ long 4x4. No idea where it came from. Several cars hit it bc every time a car hit it, it flew to another spot on the highway. She swerved but it clipped the right front tire and ripped it down the side. Bounced and flattened the back tire.
Soooo tires are run-flat tires, so there’s no spare and even if there was, it’s taken out two of them. I arrange for a tow. Will fully assess tomorrow.
