Thanks so many of you for coming back… two new players and only one drop out… makes updating the spreadsheet easy!

UA? and John Calipari are the early winners of the chalky bracket, the two newbies hit on the Lovable Loser St. John’s (pours one out)… but a lot of bunching at the top and almost everybody still alive

I decided to put together a little chart to look at paths to victory.

A few of you have a potential clear path:

  • UA is the only player with 10 seed Arkansas. He could bury us quickly if they keep going
  • glassy is the only player with 6 seed Ole Miss. He could make up a lot of ground quickly
  • 3 rookie is the only player with 3 seed KY
  • Patient Zombie has 2 solo plays: HOU and AZ. Obviously 4 seed AZ could close the gap quickly, but if they lose he might not have enough juice with HOU

Nobody picked Auburn, BYU, or Purdue other than as loser pick

After that, scenarios get more complex. I think I have a path if my live picks keep going for a while, Duke, TxTech, and TN. IPD also has Duke and TxTech and a lead on me, but doesn’t have TN so I’d need TN to win enough to close the score gap. He also has Michigan, so I’d probably need an L for them immediately. Jahiegel also has TxTech and Duke but nothing else so I think he can’t catch us.

OutdoorMan and Arby have 4 live teams plus a live loser. Others still have 3 in play. Could be a photo finish

Thanks AI! And the number of outcomes you laid out is why I stopped trying to figure it out after three minutes. It becomes elementary (my dear Watson) after next weekend.

Final Four Update… OutdoorMan takes a commanding lead with Florida and Duke left in play… no one else has both, so only PatientZombie could catch him… but with 18 possibly points left for PZ and 44 points to make up, CONGRATS to OutdoorMan!

Also IPD has locked up 2nd place, and only a Houston over Auburn final changes the top 3, anything else and UA? also gets third. So much for Madness!
