McCormick, Unilever to merge into amazingly bland powder-like substance

Yeah, I’ll just keep buying the Badia spices, their smoked paprika is where it’s at. Or the store-brand, my local grocer has their own spices that are just as good and far cheaper vs McCormick.

Are there really any reasons to think that one dried basil is superior to another dried basil? Harvest plan leaves, dry, put in storage container, put on shelf.

Sounds like some people are getting spicy and/or salty over the news.

I wonder if they will make an amazing garlic powder.

Spices are all about how fresh they are. Get some old spices and you’ll need to hit the store again in a month or two.

Actual fresh/refrigerated is the way to go for sure. Anything dried feels like it’s just a variation of meh. It certainly isn’t sold in a way that is expected to be consumed in days/ weeks. It’s sold to sit on a shelf for years.

I’m pretty sure that it was McCormick that had an ad showing one of their spice jars and noting that if your spice jars looked like this, we haven’t used that design in 10 or 20 years.

Yeah, people in general don’t all those spices all the time.
Stores should have a refill station, where people can take small jars (their own) and simply refill them when they are empty or too old to use.

You mean like Bulk Barn?
