As promised, a (much) late(r than I planned) update for Sunday evening!
And the first part of the update is… we’re breaking out the ‘Quick Summary’ for the first time this season!
Quick Summary:
For the new players and viewers in the audience, a means a player is just one throw away from being eliminated!! You can only hope that it’s not for you (and if you’re not IPD, you’d be right!). As we break out the other symbols in the Quick Summary, we’ll explain them as well.
Thank you all for doing a great job of getting nearly all the matches caught up! That really helps me out, since I have a mostly clean slate to track the next set of throws on. It also helps half of you start off your week on a good note! As for the other half of you… I guess that’s how Mondays go, yaknowwhatImean?
Other random thoughts:
-
Nice balance in the Echo region, where the 3 games were each won by a different throw. In a not-so-amazing coincidence, each game also lost by a different throw… imagine that! (Or is it all just a big ploy to confuse Echo… )
-
We only have one match left where a sweep is still possible - that’s pretty impressive, given most matches are only 2 or 3 games long so far. I guess the GoActuary crowd has really upped their RPS skills for this season - well done!
-
With 4 matches at 1-1, another 4 at 2-1, and 1 at 3-2, I’m thinking we’ve got a pretty good shot of a couple of matches that’ll go the distance… which just means that we’ll just keep to keep playing to find out who’s advancing, so y’all just keep sending in those throws, ya hear?!

I’m going to get a cutting utensil to trim the excesses of documentation and just outright ROCK @IPD’s world.

Quick Summary:
That’s right, folks - we are now down to 25 players. For the new players and new viewers in the crowd, a means that someone has officially been eliminated. In this case, since there was only one person in status in the last update we know who it is, but don’t say anything so IPD can still be somewhat surprised, 'k?
… but notice as one person is eliminated, we have the next player who is potentially a single throw away from having their tournament come to an end, so you gotta keep up - things move pretty fast around here!
Nice job on submitting throws, y’all - we got most of them in, except for a couple of stare-down matches going on where neither person has submitted throws, but I think they’ll blink soon enough.
Keep those throws coming!

Good game, @IPD . . . I thought I’d get to use my broom against you; but you put the kabosh on that idea.
I think that @SteveWhite’s very scared of me . . . and hoping that a long protracted game against @AbstractActuary will cool me off.
Ain’t gonna happn.
Well, it is an evening update, so it makes sense the stars would be out, but that’s where we stand, with 6 of our 9 active matches halfway submitted… so not a lot of competed games to report.
Oh, wait - where are my manners? I completely forgot…
Quick Summary:
That’s right, folks - living on the edge is starting to become a popular activity here! And we’ve even got one of each flavor here - we’ve got a match at 3-0, 3-1, and 3-2… and that’s the order they appear below! I know that some actuaries are super-organized, but this is taking that to a whole 'nother level - well done!
We had another 4-throw game show up - it became a case of who was gonna blink first, and when someone did blink, would they blink in the right direction? (Spoiler alert:They blinked… wisely. )
Keep those throws coming!!

Tournament Note: Due to circumstances beyond your control, there will not be a midday update tomorrow; Tuesday’s lone update will be in the evening. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope to have a deluge of throws to deal with tomorrow night. We really, really hope that, so please make it so!
I usually squeak out a first round victory in these tourneys. Nice work. My strategy was brutal, a combination of choosing my throws and randomizing my throws. I know now I need to randomly choose whether or not to randomly choose or normally choose for the whole round. Randomly randomly choosing and normal choosing leads to too much randomness in the results.
Just make sure that when you do any random selection, that it’s done in a non-Gaussian manner.
=RAND() divided into thirds…that’s not how everyone plays?
:spock:
Don’t let meep here you speak such blasphemy
My apologies, but it’s significantly later than I thought it would be this evening, and I want to do the update fresh, so the delay will be extended until Wed A.M. Thank you for your patience.
