LinkedIn Woes

This may not be what’s intended as a Professional Actuarial Topic, but I would want to use Linked In to contact another actuary whose contact information is not available from the Actuarial Directory.

I, somewhat reluctantly, uploaded a government issued photo id, months ago. Nothing has happened. I can find no way to contact them for further information. Some online searches say my situation is not unique, but provide little hope that there’s a way forward.

There were some suggestions that if I knew someone with a paid Linked-in account, they might have a way to get through on my behalf, but even those people weren’t optimistic.

[tan, not professional]I seemed to have lost the passwords for the frequent flyers accounts on Southwest for my wife and me, and no longer have access to the e-mail accounts or phone numbers attached to them. The only way to regain access is to upload a government issued photo-id. Not gonna do that with Southwest. At least with Linked In the Internet told me the process, involving a third party, was safe. We offered to show government issued photo-id to Southwest at the airport. Not good enough.

And the real kicker: they won’t even delete our existing accounts or let us create new accounts, since we have accounts. [/tan]

Perhaps the new account approach would work with Linked In. This issue started at least 5 months ago, and I can’t remember if I tried it. At least with Linked In, I could probably put it some bogus information like a wrong birth date so they wouldn’t recognize me as restricted. With Southwest, I absolutely don’t want to do anything that might interfere with me flying.

my friend got the same thing, he doesn’t intend to do anything about it

So annoying when I did what they asked to have my access restored.

Looks like a scam.

Yes, but it is the linked in website that that the message, not something I’m getting by e-mail

Actually there are some online things saying it may be a phishing scam. However it appears when I try to log in.

Ah.
Sounds like LinkedIn doesn’t want to be in business anymore.

When I type “LinkedIn.com” into my browser

When I click “Sign in with e-mail”

When I enter e-mail and password

Click I am not and get

Get a captcha traffic light screen, select the right ones, and get

Also, in the browser address

Click on Verify your Identity and get

I did not scan that today, though I did months ago and did upload a drivers license. Hopefully not a big mistake. No, even if someone requests it, I am not going to post a picture of the drivers license here so you’ll more fully understand what I did.

When I clicked on “Learn more about ID Verification” I get (partial screenprint)

I checked before (not again today) and got the impression Persona is legit.

LinkedIn sucks
