Matrix Resurrections Not sure that this movie needed to be made and to be honest, I am not sure the writers did either. They have a number of instances where they are clearly making fun of themselves or the prior movies. It was sort of fun though, but too long.
The Eyes Of Tammy Faye - first off Jessica Chastain was phenomenal. The movie was very well done, but lacked depth. We see their relationship, but all the other stuff was almost like background noise. What did she know? What was intentional or just stupidity? I see all these evangelists as crooks, so was their crime being too greedy and allowing the church fail? I give her credit for embracing gays and people with HIV, but they almost make her seem like an innocent bystander, and I donât buy it. Also, children are born and then basically disappear from their life
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Went in with really low expectations, based on everything I had heard.
I loved it and am just confused why someone would watch this movie and then hate it. I am not sure what people didnât like about it.
Need to go read some old reviews.
Finally watched Encanto.
Is that the one about the Spanish mapmaker, on the online encyclopedia?
House of Wax (1953)
Worse than I remembered.
Whatâs that guy doing shilling with paddleballs in front of the museum? Oh yeah, this was filmed in 3D, thatâs the only reason. Another off-plot 3D moment occurs when some French-style kick-dancers do their thing.
I think i have watched it three times
We watched Redeeming Love. First movie at the theatre since 2019. I was a little annoyed bc the seat selection showed space between seat where there was none. And the theatre wasnât crowded. I think next time I go I might wait until closer to the show to select the seats I want. Or maybe choose end seats?
Clue (1985)
Nice ensemble but lots of shitty dialogue and plot, in which the ending(s)â reenactments do not match what happened in the movie.
Watched for the short Howard Hesseman appearance. And even shorter Jane Weidlin appearance.
or the next person sat in the wrong place
I mean, these are all just fighting words.
One of my favorite movies, no matter how bad it is.
Really? Explain.
Not for some cinematic greatness or anything.
Just pure nostalgia for me.
Makes me happy to watch it and I can quote so many scenes.
Just one of those spots of joy.
Black Widow â Good action, entertaining banter (boy does DC miss that). good cast. More Russian spy than Superhero, which I like. Not a great entry, but enjoyable
A Hero â from Asghar Farhadi the director of A Separation, About Elly, The Salesman. He makes good movies, dealing with the troubles of life. Could be a Oscar Best Foreign nom. I would watch a movie just because it has his name attached to it
Nightmare Alley â Saw the original 6 years ago, donât remember a lot of details. This was very good film making, great cast, interesting story, but never fully grabbed my. Too long and almost too developed. Liked it, but didnât love it
Hmm, seems so forgettable. I did not watch it at a cult showing, though. Just myself in my TV room.
Itâs like the whole movie was a red herring.
Câmon Câmon This is listed as an Oscar contender with Joaquin Phoenix and Gabby Hoffman as siblings dealing with life. It is shot n black and white, which works for this story. He is a podcaster/radio host and is traveling around the country and asking children about how they see their future. It feels like the kids didnât get real lines so it seems more authentic. She is married to a guy having a mental break, not sure of his diagnosis, but he is in the process of being admitted to a care facility and she canât take care of her son while this is happening, so Joaquin takes the boy on this travels. The boy is mostly left to his own devices by mom, so it is a challenge for his uncle to take him on this road trip. he boy has his own issues. He likes to pretend that he is an orphan and just shows up on the doorstep and has rather adult conversations. Not sure if I liked it a lot or found it overbearing. Maybe both.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife As noted above, I had low expectations, but thoroughly enjoyed it. McKenna Grace stole the movie along with Logan Kim. These are the younger kids. She was almost unrecognizable with the curly black hair.
Can You Keep a Secret Typical rom-com with Alexandra Daddario. She works for a small company, travels to Chicago for a pitch that bombs and cries to her seatmate who turns out to be the companyâs big boss. They all have secrets to keep. Not great, but good enough.
Home Team Kevin James as Sean Payton during the year he was suspended. He coaches his sonâs peewee football team along with Taylor Laughtner. Hard to tell if any of it was true or not, but James did a reasonably good job of straddling the line between laughter and seriousness. A bit of both.
Iâm Your Man A German movie with Dan Stevens as a robot designed to make the owner happy. It is much better and deeper than I thought it would be. It asks some probing questions on what it means to be happy, are we ever really happy, etc.
Walking on Sunshine This is a little bit like Mamma Mia. The whole film is set to the songs of the 80âs. The cast sings and dances their way through them. It is an Italian rom-com of sorts. Two sisters, one guy, etc.
Small Apartments Watched this mostly for the cast which includes James Caan, Billy Crystal, Juno Temple, Johnny Knoxville, James Marsden, DJ Qualls, Rebel Wilson, Dolph Lundgren. The lead is Matt Lucas who only wears his underwear and a shirt most of the time. He dreams of living in Switzerland and practices the alphorn in his apartment. He accidentally kills the super and has to try to get rid of the body. This is one weird movie.
Malice in Wonderland Odd take on the story. A girl is missing and doesnât know how she got halfway around the world or remember her name. It starts Maggie Grace as Alice.
The Defiant Ones (1958)
Excellent.
Donât Look Up - it was ok. some funny stuff. lots of stuff beaten to death. was too long. cast was something.
