Last movie you've watched

Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar. Kristin Wiig I like but this was thin for interest.

Werewolves Within (2021)

because Milana Vayntrub. It’s a horror/comedy. You can guess most of the the plot from the title - it appears that a werewolf has attacked a small town that is isolated because of an avalanche and power failure. I’m not a big horror fan and I wasn’t impressed at the start, but it builds up nicely and always comes back to comedy as things get tense. It’s not a great movie, but overall it’s fun.

You had me at Milana.

“Being the Ricardos” (2021) on Prime (and in theaters, maybe).

Pretty good. More about backstage and offstage drama and rehearsals. Nicole did very well, must have gone off the monthly botox, especially the offstage voice. Javier also acted wonderfully.
JK Simmons blended into Fred/William Frawley flawlessly.

Spider-Man No Way Home. First movie I’ve seen in an actual theater since I can’t remember when. Very enjoyable Marvel movie with nice crossovers to prior Spider-Man franchises.

Saw West Side Story. Pretty standard retelling, but very well done. A couple of small deviations that actually worked quite well.

I watched Don’t Look Up over the weekend. I thought it was the best movie I have seen in years.

I started to watch Heavenly Creatures (1994), but despite some really good acting I saw where the movie was going (I hadn’t known what the movie was about when I started it) and didn’t feel like finishing it.

I’ll post all my 2021 releases after New Year

Watched a lot of The Ballad of Cable Hogue" (1970) last night, film by Sam Peckinpah. Started in late and was out of the room for a bit, but I watched anyway.

Walk of Shame

Fun movie where a “good girl” with no dirt in her past ends up finding it all in one day after finding out that her fiancee dumped her (for another woman) and a promotion that was originally announced to to have gone to someone else was made in error.

Some language (although, a high concentration of it was had during the crack house scene) and considerable skin was shown (early in the movie). But enjoyed it overall.

If they didn’t want to be poor they should have picked better lottery numbers.

Just watched it. Really well put together.

Don’t look up

It was crap. I lean liberal, but it just wasn’t well done, I wouldn’t have watched the whole thing but the family wanted to.

Went to No Way Home today. Probably not the best film ever made, but it was remarkably fun to geek out to.

Some Hallmark movie with the same general plot as all the others but this one was set in a military style high school.

*I was super excited to learn that my new tv gives me access to a Hallmark movie channel. I was equally miffed to realize I could have been watching all the goofy Hallmark Christmas movies for the last month. Oh well, next year!

“The China Syndrome” (1979)
Very good, though quite dated.

Disney’s Encanto!!!1 5/5.

It seems Disney has decided to go 100% on-board the feminist, inclusive, non-violent, cultural representative, wrestling constantly with misplaced identity, societal expectations, and emotional health issues just to please the modern mom.

As a privileged white male who doesn’t give a fig for any of that I…so strongly approve.

The mental/social/moral complexities mixed with bright Disney song and dance are just plain awesome. Easily better than most grown up movies.

Also saw this weekend. Was good. Dunno what disney’s got against ‘Bruno’ (Luka, Encanto).

The first rule of Disney club is we don’t talk about Bruno
