Did you miss the spam attack?
In early Sept 2001 the Rebel Forum was taken over by hackers and they posted tons of spam and basically took over the site. That was when it was moved to a new software suite and then flourished for quite a while. The person who hacked it used the handle SpaceLobster.

Dozens if not hundreds of new registrations, registering faster than i could delete them and every one posting three or four spam posts.
It really was the closest thing to space lobster ive seen in 25 years.
Of course I got the reference. But missed the latest attack
I just looked, and I think we blocked 169IP’s in the last 2 days. Early on in the attack multiple accounts were registered on some IP’s. When I started blocking them, they started using a new IP each time.

So this situation brings a question to mind. Is there a contingency plan to resume our discussions in the event of a other catastrophic event?

Admins will have more details, but someone was trying to overrun the site with bogus registrations and spam posts.

Idk what the issue was today but I and another user were unable to access the site

It went down sometime yesterday for me until sometime today.
ok well as far as I can tell it’s not on my end. the server is clearly serving pages. I checked the nameserver people, they’re all good.
so. some random folks are getting what I think are actual network errors. which is bizarre, that shouldn’t happen in 2025.
I’m stumped , other than I’m thinking it’s more in your end than mine, because everything here seems fine.
