Bloomberg was reporting (and I think someone in the administration was trumpeting) that wholesale prices for eggs are declining.
I don’t know how long it’ll take for that to trickle down to retail prices, however.

Got the 5 dozen for $18.
That’s cheap! My Costco only had packs of 24, which is fine.
I was long eggs in the US but am now scrambling to cover my losses.
I bought a dozen at TJs for $4.
Still normal price at our Costco. $7 for 2 dozen
You say po-tay-to, I say po-tah-to, you say to-may-to, I say to-mah-to, you say price gouging, I say application of free market forces.
And the numbers say…
Whole lotta graphs and data
My very own summary.
A reduction coming very soon
I hope you weren’t counting your chickens before they hatched.
Wow, eggs have been $7/dz at my local store for quite some time. Just checked today, $5.09/dz.
Not for long.
You can actually get the market clearing price from that link I posted. Costs vary by geographic region quite a bit.
We can all get back to walking on eggshells.
A way to fight egg inflation.
Not relevant, but some friends of mine have chickens. They had 7, and then someone was playing with his falcon on a neighbor’s property, so now they have 6.
Guessing that falcon got inflated for a bit.
Eh. It is a way to always have fresh eggs available, not have to go to the store.
But adding all the expenses up, you end up with expensive eggs. Economies of Scale help a lot in keeping egg costs, and thus prices, down.
We are down to our last chicken in the backyard and she will not be replaced. Our son (misguidedly) gave them to us as a surprise Xmas gift almost 10 years ago after our beloved 22 year old cat passed away.
Chickens are a pain in the neck with the cleaning, etc., and with getting help to look after them when you are travelling. Our old hen is past her egg laying days and is not cuddly like a cat. She has beaten the actuarial tables on longevity.
