I’m wondering if you could find someone who has chickens who’d take her in for both of your sakes?

There are neighbours a few blocks away who also have chickens in their back yard. However chickens can be hostile to a new chicken, especially one of a different breed, which ours is (a Quebec Chantecler).
Thus I expect our old hen would have been met with hostility by our neighbour’s hens if we had given her to them. In addition, she is no longer productive so I doubt the neighbour would want her anyway. She seems content living with us so we will give her that.

I was thinking you could give the chicken some sort of trust fund. Basically cover her living expenses in exchange for letting her live with a flock. But if she’s happy with where she is, then not needed.

Year over Year down to 2.4%. Have fun looking at that number. Probably not going to see that again for a while.

I am sure that at least one Trump acolyte will be saying “see, tariffs don’t cause inflation” even though the tariffs hadn’t kicked in in March.

Or a testament to states banning caged eggs. Around 10 states have bans or restrictions on caged eggs. Rhode Island is phasing in a ban that’s fully in effect in 2026. I believe Ohio sells caged eggs but banned construction of new facilities using cages. Michigan just banned caged eggs beginning January 1 2025.

Looks like inflation is further denting consumer choices. In this case US consumers are moving away from clearly over-priced unhealthy snack foods.

What an awful graph. Unit sales instead of nominal dollars, so you wouldn’t expect the curves to match at all. Yet putting both on the same plot to invite comparison.

Should produce price increases on their products?

If everyone buys one-millionth of a plane…
The bombers might cost more, so taxes/deficit.
Shipping planes might increase basket goods costs.
Transportation planes might increase airline ticket costs.

Inflation is going up and likely staying up for a while.

From the FT:

> The price jumps will have a political impact, analysts have said, and comes as Trump says he has cut inflation and urges the Federal Reserve — which meets on Wednesday — to slash interest rates.

While Electricity prices have been going up, gas prices have remained pretty steady. And with OPEC increasing production there is a decent chance that those prices will be going down.

That will be good to keep inflation looking like it is moderating, until oil prices go back up, which they will eventually. Probably next summer or fall in time for the election.
