Upgrade options are
16 $500 (smaller screen than 12PM; dual camera instead of pro camera)
16 plus $600 (same screen as 12PM; dual cam)
16 pro $700 (smaller screen; pro cam like 12PM)
16 pro max $900 (everything is bigger and better)
Obviously, the processor is better on 16. The battery life by default will be better (at least for a while). “Camera control” is new, but The camera really isn’t all that important. I won’t notice a difference between current and the two new choices. I just feel like I’m missing out if I don’t get the best.
I can’t quite convince myself that the pro max is worth $400 more than the base model. Otoh, how will I feel about that 2-4 years from now? Will I replace the 16 in two years but hold on to the PM for four or more?
The 16 plus might be worth $100 more to not downgrade the screen size.
What are your thoughts/considerations? Talk me through this.
I think, since I’m the only one in the family of four who’s upgrading, that I’ll go with the cheaper option and then , in two years , when everyone else is ready to upgrade, we’ll all get the “18”s. By then the 18 pro max ultra should have the “fold my laundry” option.
Looks like I need to re set up authenticator app credentials…such as login.gov and our external auditor. I’m going to have to figure that out.
I’m not sure I have usb-c outlets and such. I do have that circle charger in the back, and I shouldn’t need to be plugged in all the time now, so it shouldn’t be that bad.
Pro tip for next time: take screen shots of all the screens so that you remember which apps you have and in which order the icons are situated. The misalignment of the icons combined with my muscle memory is killing me.
