Insurance addiction

Why don’t people get addicted to insurance like they do with casino games?

I guess you can say requiring an insurable interest in something might be why but I don’t think so. Otherwise there’d be black market insurance clubs run by the mob where people can get their fix without abiding by all the rules.

You know how much I pay in insurance every month? A lot. Like probably one of our biggest bills.
A ton of life insurance, term + permanent on me, my spouse, and both kids. Long term disability. Critical illness insurance on the kids. A stop-loss health and dental plan. Car insurance. Probably more I’m not thinking about right now.
Good news, I sleep at night. very little can happen to me that would be catastrophic financially.

“Wow, what a hit on McDavid, he was slow to get up … is he going to be OK? Let’s check the odds at DraftKings, where it’s currently +325 on him missing the next shift and +1500 on him being out the rest of the game. DraftKings, where you can get $150 for your first deposit of just $5 and your first bet is free!”
