Innumeracy

Just some general observations:

  1. the build-a-PC people on the internet comparing the price of a complete computer system like a laptop to their built PC (without monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, OS)
  2. the people on the internet comparing the price of cable to streaming by using the cable-internet bundle price with price of streaming without internet price.

Yeah, I would expect the affect they talk about on grown children would be for first divorces rather than 2nd+ divorces. It would be interesting to see how the rate for 1st grey (gray?) divorces compares over time.

Not math, but seemed to belong here.

Note to self, start shopping for drugs immediately.

Unfortunately the drugs with a 1000% price reduction will be the ones I get for free.

About thirty years ago I bought a bottle of shampoo for $1.89 and had a $1 coupon that the grocery store doubled, so they paid me 11 cents. What price reduction is that?

~106% reduction?

Decided this was more of an innumeracy thing and didn’t want to clutter up the Sports RIP thread.

I would have thought his Rookie year with 1,454 yards rushing and 11 TDs and 49 passes for 472 yards and another TD would be objectively better than a year when he didn’t reach those marks.

A former Boise State star, he was a first-round pick (No. 31) of Tampa Bay in 2012 and immediately burst onto the scene, rushing for 1,454 yards and 11 TDs and catching 49 passes for 472 yards and another score in his first season, which resulted in a Pro Bowl nod. At the time, he had the third-most yards from scrimmage as a rookie in NFL history, trailing only Eric Dickerson (2,212 in 1984) and Edgerrin James (2,139 in 1999).

Martin’s best season came in his All-Pro year in 2015, when he rushed for 1,402 yards and six TDs and had 33 catches for 271 yards and another score.

this is the logic that tells me my best days are still in front of me

Add each of the cards, get 365? Would have expected an even number.

364

13 × 14 / 2 × 4

Does he speak of the Pompetus of Love? I know that guy!

Trying to figure out what “count cards” mean . . . there are 10 cards (in each suit) with spots and 3 cards that are “face” cards. Not sure how to reconcile that to “count cards” . . .

Perhaps in the US, kings count for nothing?

Newsweek, you forgot the denominator!
