Is it actual innumeracy or just “humor with Math”?

The assumption of a 30% tip is as egregious as the poor math.

So now that tips aren’t taxed, do we get to go back to 15%?

Not sure whether this counts as innumeracy. I see post like this on Facebook fairly often, but this is the first time I’ve seen one that attempts to include an answer with the post. Seems like putting 38 as a possible answer should be innumeracy.

Most of the early comments have the right answer, but the person who started it says they are wrong. I didn’t read enough to find out what he claimed the right answer was. If you care (not recommended) Redirecting...

150, if we dollow strict math.

Yes, that is what most of the early responses are. I have no idea why anyone might think 38., I understand 0, but think it is clearly not right.

It is a colloquial interpretation, but they need to be learned.

100-12-50 = 38

I’m not gonna bother checking out exactly how buddy got to 38.

Any votes for -4?

In a reception with members of Congress on Tuesday, Trump spoke about lowering drug prices for Americans at a time when cuts to programs like Medicaid are on the horizon.

In doing so, Trump promised some truly staggering figures.

“We will have reduced drug prices by 1000%, by 1,100%, 1,200%, 1,300%, 1,400%, 700%, 600%. Not 30% or 40% or 50%. But numbers likes of which you’ve never even dreamed of.”

“We’re gonna get the drug prices down,” Trump said. “Not 30% or 40%, which would be great. Not 50% or 60%. No, we’re gonna get them down 1,000%, 600%, 500%, 1,500%. Numbers that are not even thought to be achievable.”

Not verified that Trump said this, but it goes well with the post about his drug price reductions.
