If the D nomination is Harris, who should she pick as VP candidate?

You know, if this leads to the trump campaign being more openly anti-Black, maybe it will help the Democrats with the Black vote.

I’m sure Trump’s advisors will try to steer him away from any racial attacks on Harris, but I don’t know that he’ll be able to restrain himself.

Hmm, all look like they might be giving up a competitive seat by running for VP.

If the goal is to block a Trump win, take away the unity speak – and the Never Trump Rs – by choosing Mitt Romney.

Or Liz Cheney.

I am hoping Kamala has something to offer because I am afraid Trump’s behaviour may lead to apathy rather than to Democrat votes.

I think they might take a different tack:

Like when Obama denied his Kansas roots?

Also, person doesn’t know where India is, which, I believe, is in “South Asia.”

Of the 4 that would only apply to Kelly. I believe the Democratic Governor of AZ would appoint his replacement but the seat would be voted on in “the next general election” so yes there is a risk of losing the AZ seat but not a near term risk.

Because a candidare whose preferred policies on just aboit everything are in direct opposition to the party platform makes sense?
Also he’s 77.

She has a history as attorney general that wasn’t positive for people of colour. She needs to offer something otherwise people may rather not vote.

There are social dynamics between the two groups that both groups are picking up on in that post hence his use of the word specifically and also why the write up doesn’t use the word.

I’m just saying if the goal is singularly to block Trump at all costs. :man_shrugging: (Although I didn’t realize that he’s that old now.)

For the record, I am also declining to be Harris’ Vice President.

That has to be at least as newsworthy as Manchin.

I read Reagan’s autobiography and I can’t recall who he said his first couple of choices were, but my recollection is that GHWB was like his third choice and partly selected because he’d already been vetted.

But, according to Reagan, they ended up getting along pretty well in the end.

I doubt very much that Cheney or Palin were party picks. I think those are who the candidates felt comfortable with. They are, of course, also aware of political realities such as picking a woman after Hillary Clinton lost (McCain’s pick of Palin) or picking someone perceived as strong on foreign policy when you are running on the strength of your domestic policy (W’s pick of Cheney).

To be fair, he was answering a question about whether he would consider serving as Harris’s VP.

I guess the next few weeks matter a lot for Kamala. She alone still is not persuading me yet. I need to see her outside the shadow of Biden. Her VP isn’t my concern yet.

Mike Polis (CO gov) on whether or not he wants to be the VP pick:

Look, if they if they do the polling and it turns out that they need a 49-year-old, bald and gay Jew from Boulder, Colorado, they got my number.
