ICE, ICE baby (and CBP stuff too)

These ICE people are completely out of control.

:aghast:

I’d say that they are very much under control. They are doing exactly what Stephen Miller wants them to do – terrorize anyone who is living in the US and who wasn’t born here.

(and, eventually get to those who were born here but whose parents weren’t)

Sure, eventually, but is that group before or after those, who were born here of native-born parents, who oppose Trump?

On March 15, President Donald Trump’s administration sent more than 230 Venezuelan immigrants to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador. Without providing evidence, Trump has called the men “some of the most violent savages on the face of the Earth.”

We obtained internal data showing the Trump administration knew that at least 197 of the men had not been convicted of crimes in the U.S. — and that only six had been convicted of violent offenses. We identified fewer than a dozen additional convictions, both for crimes committed in the U.S. and abroad, that were not reflected in the government data.

Nearly half of the men, or 118 , were whisked out of the country while in the middle of their immigration cases, which should have protected them from deportation. Some were only days away from a final hearing.

At least 166 of the men have tattoos. Interviews with families, immigration documents and court records show the government relied heavily on tattoos to tie the men to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua — even though law enforcement experts told us that tattoos are not an indicator of gang membership.

You know the saying about how a prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich? Well, funny thing is happening in LA:

Although his office filed felony cases against at least 38 people for alleged misconduct that either took place during last month’s protests or near the sites of immigration raids, many have been dismissed or reduced to misdemeanor charges.

In total, he has secured only seven indictments, which usually need to be obtained no later than 21 days after the filing of a criminal complaint. Three other cases have been resolved via plea deal, records show.

The three officials who spoke to The Times on condition of anonymity said prosecutors have struggled to get several protest-related cases past grand juries, which need only to find probable cause that a crime has been committed in order to move forward. That is a much lower bar than the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard required for a criminal conviction.

Five cases have been dismissed without prejudice — meaning they could be refiled — and records show nine have been filed as misdemeanors, which do not require a grand jury indictment to proceed. In some cases, prosecutors reduced charges against defendants to misdemeanors after repeatedly falling short at the grand jury stage, according to the three officials.

Another citizen detained and threatened for hours

This is ridiculous IMO. We let a triple murderer go free in the US. This guy should be locked up forever.

Instead we sent hairdressers and soccer players that were here properly following the asylum process to a foreign gulag without any recourse, then decided to trade these innocent folks for this POS.

I’m flabbergasted that nobody has shot these wannabe brownshirts. Unless I’ve missed some story of it barely ever happening.

I suppose migrants whose residency is already marginal (asylum-seeking in this case) would be more hesitant to shoot anybody, let alone potentially shoot a cop.

I also found a study that gun ownership among immigrants is only 1/3 of the general population (specific to the state of CA.)

He was probably asked questions about Venezuela and El Salvador.

The Fuckers.

Actually, that potential would explain quite a bit about their operational tactics when doing public snatch-and-grabs.
