The only way the kids votes thing works is if we also prorate votes by age. Let’s be optimistic and say life expectancy is 100. Okay, parents get the vote of their kids, but in exchange, a 20 year old’s vote is worth 2X that of a 60 year old.
House Republicans are willing to say that they dislike the Vance pick. But obviously not willing to go on record, can only criticize something Trump related anonymously.
I’m childless, care a lot about the environment and it annoys the crap out of me, all the pro-O&G folks with young kids. They’re actively harming their kids future and refuse to contemplate the idea CO2 emissions are harmful.
ETA: the ones who annoy me more are the old climate change deniers who are going to be dead before the severe impacts hit and are currently downplaying the current bad impacts.
I don’t think the Republicans are ready for TikTok. Someone put Vance saying “I’m a never Trump guy, I never liked him” to music, and people are posting videos of themselves dancing to it.
One key to decent social media is that it has to be organic, not forced. E.g., this (from his Senate campaign) is cringe, partly because it is top down, trying to be cool:
Except for skibidi, almost all of the slang that the current generation use has a reasonable origin. Like, even gyatt started as an acronym for “Goddamn yo ass it thicc.” But that doesn’t necessarily make it easier to follow.
