How should i light my basement?

The main section of my basement is a room that is about 40’x15’. I have a couple sections of can lights, 3-4 each, generally running along the outside 40’ length about 4’ from the wall. Opposite of that, I have bar lighting, wall sconces, and table lamps to fill out the room. A variety is nice if you plan on using the space for different reasons.

One thing I am a bit OCD about is the lighting color being consistent and appropriate for the space. You may want a bright white light for the treadmill or to help focus on puzzles, but I think your other uses you probably dont want to feel like you are in the middle of a Costco. A lot of Air BNBs drive me nuts by having nothing but a white fluorescent fan/light combo in their spaces with barely a lamp anywhere.

The ceiling is only 7’ high in most of the basement, but part of it is 8’1" high.

yeah, if I get the most expensive LED strips, they can be attached to a dimmer that also smoothly changes color from about 2700K to about 6200K. If I get anything else, I’ll go with 4000K, because the primary uses will be things where “daylight” is good, but 5000K is just too harsh for anything else.

Ceiling is too low. I’d hit my head. And I’m not very tall.

Surely there’s a modern lighting gadget that would do the job, however.

You’re making this project very difficult. I cannot work creatively in such conditions!!!
