Hopefully the school will just reject the incorrect forms. The pediatrician might not be keen to sign a new batch of forms. Curious if said pediatrician is an MD/DO or a naturopath/chiropractor.
I think MD, but not positive.
One would think insurance companies would be interested in a doctor willing to sign forms that increase risk and the likelihood of claims.
Whiskey gets a heart for predicting this:
But, again (maybe I said it in the AO…), Shirley this is a coincidence.
And, it doesn’t even account for all the visitors that have COVID riding pillion on the way home. No matter, that data will be “fake news.”
Also, wondering what happened in Guam this week? There’s a map showing a 320% increase in cases there. Probably not a credible number, but still.
I’m still surprised at the number of people who just think they can pwn any virus, natural disaster, or whatever. I guess it’s a testament to how safe our lives generally are.
In their “1550%” metric, are they counting only folks who live in county, or anybody? Because having a ton more cases when 500,000 people come to your tiny county seems rather obvious.
Seems rather likely lots of spread happened given the vaccination rate of the attendees, but reporting apples to oranges numbers ticks me off.
Like the number of marriages and divorces (back in the day) in NV per Resident of NV.
But, to your question: All testing should be classified by resident’s ZIP Code, for consistency. Easier to compare consistent rates per 100,000.
Well, except for the mayor of the town, the businesspeople, the residents, the Governor,…
Money and getting re-elected are more important than some small number of citizens’ health.
Last year, some researchers tried to figure out the nationwide damage of Sturgis, based on upticks in areas where the attendees live.

Wow, that is bigger impact than I would have guessed if it based on residence. I guess it makes sense on reflection though: a lot less exposure for remote rural folks when there is not a gigantic motorcycle event in town.
Lollapalooza had minimal impact from what I have seen: goes to show what much higher rates of vaccination do for you.
Too easy of a prediction?
Exactly.
Almost like we could safely return to normal if people were not selfish and irresponsible.
So we’re all doomed.
Go ahead and make the same prediction for next year too. I’m afraid you’ll be correct again.
everyone is selfish and irresponsible in their own way, including those who get vaccinated. let he who hasn’t committed selfish acts be the first one to judge.
I don’t believe that people who get vaccinated necessarily do it for unselfish reasons either. Many do it because they don’t want to get covid.
Wow! We definitely have some spreading in schools but I don’t think it’s that high. New cases still high but holding steady.
Contact tracing is a joke here and not all schools report. In the district where hubby works there is a lot of chatter. In the district where I live I’m hearing nothing.
So my town/zip has about 400 active cases as of Wed (which is really probably a couple days before that bc my state is slow at releasing info). And this morning my local school district (which may not account for my entire zip) reported active cases (as of yesterday) of 76 students and teachers/staff. So less than 20%.
Now I’m going to have to look at school district maps compared to zip code maps bc a neighboring school district is reporting double the cases but only 20-30% more students. I doubt there is much difference between in masking and distancing between the 2 districts.
What are your school policies? Will your school shut down if X% of staff & students are out?
National cases seem to be peaking. Florida cases have been flat for the last week or so. A handful of states in the south have decreasing cases.
So, are we rounding the corner (nationally) for the final time? Or are we expecting another winter surge where we get 150k-200k cases a day?
Shelby County, TN has sued challenging the state’s directive that parents be allowed to opt their children out of any school mask mandates.
