Did you know that Andy Weir (of The Martian, Artemis, and Project Hail Mary) will personally sign a book you send him? I learned this two weeks ago and sent a copy of The Martian for him to sign for the girlfriend as a future gift. [Instructions are on a Reddit page, I can’t get to \r with work computer.] It arrived yesterday! So excited for her to see it. He’s good people.
So we are putting dogs in zoos too? Sucks to be that dog.
I had the most surreal it’s a small world experience last night.
We got invited to dinner last night by a doctor that my wife has been doing imaging work for the past couple of years with a small group that worked on the project.
Turned out one of the young ladies is the daughter of good high school friend of my I haven’t seen in years. We been exchanging holliday cards forever and I’ve seen her kids grow up through those but I didn’t put two at two together.
But someone at the table asked if I grew up in CA and I said no NJ. This girls is like of where? me - “Rockaway”, her - “I know that my mom is from there some where with lakes”. So I ask her mom’s name - Debbie and I immediately finished the last name as I just realized this girl looks just like her mom did 35 years ago.
Where going to try and meet up now next time she comes out to visit her daughter.
Life is stranger than fiction sometimes.

I was already corrected that his dad was 100 but mom was only 90.
My son got married yesterday along the Ottawa river. Here’s the view this morning.
We were pressed for time. We were an hour out and my wife remembered we left behind a few things for supper. Called my sister and she picked up what we missed. Then we were 15 minutes away and she remembered she forgot the wedding cakes she made lol. So I found a store a half hour away and got this.
So you get bonus cake when you get home?

I find it sad she denied some basic needs, like hearing aids. It is wonderful what she did, but it seems like a compulsion to deny herself things she needed
We just organized our spice drawer. New racks that put everything at a 30 degree angle, all jars the same size and labelled, everything in alphabetical order.
Looks really good, and is really satisfying. And it’s easy to see when we are getting low on something.
