Pair of ducks has returned to our above ground pool. It is left 2/3 full through winter and they have been here at least one prior year, maybe more. No idea if the same ones or not. It’s cute to see them hanging out

A nearby commercial lot that had been vacant for a long time will be a Popeyes.
the Planet Fitness I go to has never had a barbell rack and free weights. Sure, they had dumbbells, but those aren’t heavy enough for dead lifts and squats. They had a couple of Smith Machines, but those restrict range of motion and I’ve never gotten used to them.
Lo and behold, i show up this morning for the first time in about a month, and see 3 brand-spanking new barbell racks and platforms! Yippee!! I did dead lifts, overhead press, bent-over rows, bench press, and squats. I’m gonna be so damn sore tomorrow, but I’m really excited for this new development! 2x / week weightlifting, here I come!

Pre-spinal fusion I preferred to do deadlifts with a barbell, not a smith machine, but my company gym was renovated and moved from the basement/on the foundation, to the 3rd floor of our building, so smith machines only from there on out. Not my favorite…although now I can’t do either.
One of my SILs works in the Vancouver film industry. I like that he gets to meet some interesting actors as the job can involve long hours with little action.
This weekend he got to meet Bryan Cranston who is shooting the Malcolm in the Middle reboot here. Was a thrill for my SIL to spend some time with him as he was a big fan of the Breaking Bad series.
A few weeks ago he was looking after Sally Fields on set. I would have loved to meet her but she is more reclusive than Bryan Cranston.

I just watched the episode of King of Queens where he builds a giant pool overlooking the Heffernans’s yard. He’s great in that.

Daughter (archeologist - employment was tied to government contracts) who has been unemployed since November received a job offer (contractor for department of defense) pending funding passes (I hate having to root for the current budget) and at more money than before. She also has another interview for a different job, she would take but doesn’t want as much
Other Daughter (fed up teacher) received a second interview for an office job, tied to her education background for NY state, better pay, pending no one internal and qualified applies.

We have a local society dedicated to preservation of historic homes and buildings. A realtor who lives in the neighborhood nominated us for an award for our work on the porch, sidewalk, and landscaping. Feels pretty nice.

When I moved to my house in 2011, the prior owners left some chives. They are still flourishing with minimal attention.
