The ocean temperatures also provide much more convincing evidence for global warming, or at least they did for a long time.They are a lot less volatile than the air temperatures. Unfortunately, what we call science is very much a particular culture, much more so than a set of methods or even assumptions. As a culture it is fragile. And this administration is really dismantling it in a way that is pretty unbelievable. ---

Yes. Heat + drinking + water = never a great idea. The worst ever recorded heat wave in Europe. We got lucky as we are going to Disneyland Paris early July so we don’t get hit with the closures. People are having a miserable experience due to the heat there. A lot of rides are closed and they cancelled many parades. It was 3C above average. The climate effects at the tails of the distribution are non-linear..so difficult to predict. Both Lake Powell and Lake Mead are at critically low levels, and it seems this long term situation will continue to get worse. There are proposals to drain Lake Powell to save Lake Mead.
