Gender options on Applications?

In my mind it just goes back to your earlier logic. If you’re a woman who feels more like a man you can mostly just live into that.

At least in my experience as a man if you felt like a woman it would be pretty dramatic to live into that, probably partly related to the whole patriarchy idea where more feminine traits are generally considered negatives (at least, or particularly for, men). So if you’re going to live into that I can see why you’d basically not really do it at all and then go all-in, unlike a woman where it’s more accepted to be a tomboy.

Yeah, I’m still following that thread as a logical explanation.

I know a number of female-sexed people who consider themselves nonbinary/genderfluid. They may dress and act less feminine than a cisgender female-sexed person, but still generally present like a “woman” and you wouldn’t know unless it came up in conversation. They’re not wearing binders and stuffing their pants.

And I know a number of transitioned people who spent years in a state of finding themselves - in some cases, initially thinking they were gay, later identifying nonbinary, and eventually realizing they’re just a straight trans person.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a significant portion fall into that “not transitioned, just not really a woman and not worried about labels” category. My partner is more or less “whatever” gendered. They’re kind of the gender matching their sex. If they had to pick one, they’d match their sex. They’re not trans or cis. It’s also not really a concern unless it bothers them.
