“Absolutely, here you go - enjoy your service.”
Business today:
“Hi. I’d like to exchange money for this service, please.”
“Ok - you need to create an account so we can spam you, you need to give us your credit card information so we can lose it when our systems are compromised, you need to fill out this pre-customer survey then later we won’t leave you alone until you fill out this post-customer survey, and we will hound you relentlessly to purchase add-on services that have nothing to do with the service you want and will bring no real benefit to you.”
“I don’t want to do any of that, will you take my money, please?”
“Your money is no good here. It’s your meta data we want.”

When I went on my trip to China with a couple years ago, we spend virtually all day on a bus traveling from one city to another. I don’t know that I have ever been on a bumpier road. That was my highest steps day of the trip.
I always thought the steppes were in Russia.
