If women are “useless one quarter of the time”, should they have PTO one quarter of the time?

The actuarial field is the ultimate ‘no-DEI’. The career pays no attention to sex, gender, race, or haircut. Exams level everything.

It’s one of the things I really like about the industry. Doesn’t matter who you are, shut up and pass exams, make the big bucks.

I think this ignores the career growth that happens after passing all the exams

Yes that’s likely true. I still think it’s better than most - when I worked at a lifeco, there were a lot more women actuaries in management that a typical management. And a variety of colours of skin as well. So yeah women are probably capped as well, but the initial velocity is a lot better than most other careers.
