i use 60% for softening butter, 80% for reheating virtually everything else. I rarely use 70%.

That’s just “Six Minute Abs” level craziness right there…

For oatmeal, I use level 7 for 3:15 to 3:30.

We have a 1,000w Panasonic that offers 800w, 660w, 440w, and 300w options. I generally prefer to use the 800w setting for re-heating foods. It cooks just a bit more evenly and gives you a little more margin of error, and I’ll take that for the extra little bit of time it adds using 800w vs the full 1,000w.

Things I want to know

We need a thread of these things.

I’m stealing this from I think Veritasium, but with a microwave and some marshmallows you can calculate the speed of light!

Indeed …boss showed me that back in the mid-late-00s. Cool stuff.

My current microwave lost my favorite feature that my previous one had. The button started it at 30 seconds if it wasn’t running and added 30 seconds if it was. No need for touching the on switch. The vast majority of the time I only had to use the one button.

My current one has an “add a minute” button, but that’s not granular enough, plus it doesn’t automatically turn it on. You always have to hit at least two buttons.

My current microwave has the 30-second instant-on key. Also the 1-4 keys function as instant-on for 1-4 minutes.

If I need to nuke something on high for 2:30, I just tap “2” “+30”, and there’s no need to hit “start”

Same, but it’s 1-6 as instant on plus the 30 second instant on.

Same

I really don’t care for the instant-on-for-n-minutes. If I want n minutes, I’ll type nnn…possibly (n-1)(n-1)(n-1) and also possibly a +:30.

This made me recoil in disgust. Then I thought about it. Currently unopposed.

GM is bringing Pontiac back for its self-drive automobile. David Hasselhoff will be the spokesperson.

That self-drive Pontiac has a problem of being a little too chatty, if rumors are to be believed.

What? You don’t want a little snark with your morning commute?

I’ve been WFH for over 10 years. I don’t want a regular morning commute, with or without snark.
