Not sure, you might be a nonresident but still technically required to pay taxes on what you earn when you work there.
This document talks about when an employer doesn’t have a location within AZ. My employer is national and has an AZ plan.
I don’t know, I think 60 days is the appropriate threshold
Hopefully the kid can come to WA some on summer break, as that’s a good time to GTFO Tucson.
Elitist.
Well… that’s the thing. Current temporary orders allows for 8 weeks in WA for the summer. The results of the psych eval were that 8 weeks was too much, but the the time should be restructured, not reduced.
Your capital gains on the 300K and your income have to all be counted in the total… not sure what the cost basis is for the stock
Maybe you can find a local summer camp/activity for a week or 2 that fits the kids current interests and would add some structure to the summer visit that would satisfy the concern.
Why would you have to register it there? Just to avoid a WA to AZ road trip in a cheap car? I’d be worried this would be an argument of residency.
It’s about a 24 hour drive, and I’m not keen on making that trip by car multiple times a year.
My ex has 2 cars, I guess I could ask her to borrow one while I’m there. But like I said in another thread, I’m not really keen on asking her for any favors.
Does a car registered in WA have to be inspected each year to maintain registration? I guess if it did, then that would require a round trip each year. My initial thought was a 1 time 1 way trip.
For only 6-10 weeks usage per year, it might be more cost effective to rent a car.
What about motorcycle plus sidecar?
This was my thought as well.
But if DtM is set on having a personally owned car, I would look at where he would like to have mail related to that vehicle sent and register it there (regardless of where it’s going to be physically garaged most of the time).
A car doesn’t need to be registered where it’s used.
Yeah… I suppose renting a car is an option… that would mean the house I buy wouldn’t necessarily need an enclosed garage.
You could get a different car/SUV for each location.
In Arizona, get a Hyundai Tuscon.
In Colorado, get a Durango.
And in the Pac Northwest, you could get a Sequoia.
Toyota Avalon for the beach house
Is it worth it to buy a car? I’ve gone stretches without a car using a combination of uber and rentals. I’m thinking it might be cost effective to not own one there…
Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevy Monte Carlo, Hyundai Kona for island time, GMC Yukon if you’re headed north, Toyota Tundra if you’re headed really far north.
Or since it’s a seasonal car, a Ford Taurus to drive between April 20 and May 20.
For a simulated ride?
