Do you discuss politics in the office?

Co-worker 1: The law should change in a way that benefits me.

co-worker 2: No, the law should change in a way that benefits me.

Not great team-building there.

As much as I love to discuss politics irl, it and religion are far too risky for work. See, what would I do without you guys!?

Except for stuff that’s directly relevant to the job (hey, check out that liability reform law) I avoid talking politics at the office, except sometimes with people who are actual friends who I happen to have met by working with them.

I have many more “friendly acquaintances” at work than actual friends.

In my experience, immigrants can be some of the people hardest on other immigrants.

Schwarzenegger (maybe only when he was younger) is an example. “I came to america with nothing and became a movie star. Why can’t you?”

Or i remember talking to another chinese immigrant complaining that hispanic/latino immigrants were not doing enough to learn english or integrate.

not that any of those statements are even close to some of the things trump said. but just being an immigrant doesn’t necessarily bring sympathy in all ways for other immigrants.

Case-in-point: Melania Trump

Last place I worked at, we played a game where everybody submitted an answer to a question and we guessed who was who.

Question: “What doesn’t exist, but should?”

My answer: “Diet cheese”

Awkward coworker: “God”

Got real weird for a moment and we moved along.

lol good for the coworker.

Sure it exists, and unlike most “diet foods”, it’s actually as good as or better than the non-diet version.

Look for cheeses made with 2% milk or ones that say “part skim”.

They skim some of the fat off the milk and then proceed to make the cheese as normal. You can barely even tell the difference and if you can, I find it’s in a good way.

Lol I guess it should have been “0 calorie cheese” but I get your point.

Fat is necessary in a diet. No need to eat a whole brick of cheese, though.

Lay off the simple sugars.

(Oh, no, I won’t get that promotion for my controversial “dietary fat” opinion! I knew I shouldn’t have typed that!!)

It rarely comes up these days. There are a few cow-orkers who make comments here and there about the current political situation, but no long discussions.

I say people were more careless during trump years because people felt comfortable trashing trump in the office

Agreed, I’ve focused on eliminating sugar where I can but fats I’m less concerned with than I used to be.

fat hasn’t been a big concern in the fitness circle for years.

No one would mistake me for being an early adopter

dietary cholesterol being removed as a health hazard was a big change as well.

I eat 2 eggs every meal now. yum.

I ate a lb of shrimp cocktail last night for dinner

I’m pretty up for adding runny egg to just about any hot food.

:shrimp: :shrimp: :shrimp:!!! :yum:

Mmmmm, a warm brownie (no edges), topped with an extra runny egg, just like mom used to make.

My husband loves egg on everything. I eat eggs and enjoy them, but don’t want them on most other foods. I don’t know why that is.

The most memorable comment was an apparently conservative guy saying, “I could vote for Biden.”
