no, but it literally took me about 3 days vs their 3 months, and fuck them anyway.
Actually, ours is closer to the āOcean Foamā from that site. Note pure white, but with some flecks.
Looks like that company is in the Chicagoland area. So it kind of makes sense but itās an awkward sentence.
If you pick an interesting off white pattern itās better at hiding being dirty so may save you some ongoing wiping effort.
Yes, well it hadnāt damaged their old counter either, so it never remotely dawned on her that it would be a problem on the new counter. Because as you say, these appliances are meant for the countertop. So she believed it would be fine to use on the countertop.
And i went back and found the post⦠it was an electric griddle sheād used to make pancakes and it not only singed, but actually cracked the quartz.
Oh, and her solution was to buy a granite ācutting boardā to put on top of that section of counter, and of course the griddle is fine on the granite.
I donāt know that I would use that griddle anymore. A small appliance that gets that hot (where it shouldnāt) sounds like a fire hazard!
Griddle was fine on a laminate countertop.
Interwebs says that quartz can withstand āup to 150 degreesā. Thatās really low.
Corian: 212
Formica: 275
Granite: 480
Marble: 480
Itās NOT that she used a defective appliance⦠itās that quartz just canāt handle properly functioning countertop appliances.
I just saw an apartment on streeteasy that my sister is gonna go to an open house for and it says it has granite counters in the kitchen, and they look surprisingly nice and not busy at all and in the white category.
I think slate is better for walls (I detest white walls).
I like slate on the roof.
I think Iād feel like i was in prison with slate on the walls. But all my walls are very light in color. The room Iām in now has pale seafoam walls and white wooden trim.
Iām almost certain I subjected my old Corian counters to higher than 212 without problems.
Your parents are really free range.
Huh, this source says 300. Which seems reasonable, if not as good as granite.
Quartz countertops are extremely heat resistant. However, they can only withstand heat up until a certain threshold. During the countertopās fabrication process, the quartz slab is cured at temperatures of about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This curing process allows the countertops to develop a resistance to stains, chips, abrasions, and heat. Once installed, you can expect your quartz countertops to withstand heat up to about 300 degrees Fahrenheit. If exposed to temperatures above this range, the resin binders within the quartz slab can change their chemical state ā often impacting the color of the quartz.
Thatās what I found on the internet
Iām not sure if we have Corian or just Corian-like counters (they came with the place), but we certainly use an air fryer and an Instant Pot all the time on bare counters and havenāt had any issues.
Our particular counters⦠they are fine but they donāt look great. Iād like to replace them but thatās roughly item 138 on my list of house projects rn.
I thought i might replace the counters when i moved in, but Iāve been really happy with them. I like that they are white, and laminate is easy to clean. I love the patch of granite next to the stove, but i wouldnāt want the whole kitchen that dark in color, and the unsealed granite does sometimes pick up a stain, that we basically wait for it to fade over time. Likeā¦if i spill turmeric on the laminate, i can clean it, but it will strain the granite. I also like that glasses donāt go āclinkā when i put them on the laminate. Itās just more forgiving.
In contrast, i hate the tile floors. But i havenāt felt strongly enough to replace them. Iām afraid if i start any kitchen project it will get out of hand.
Caesarstone says 150f. It also says not to sit on the countertop, or let water sit on it. Another site says that it can fade if it gets too much sun.
I donāt know about you, but i have stuff hotter than 150 in my kitchen all the time. Iāve never worried that a cup of tea might damage the counter.
Wow. And thatās an expensive counter. Who wants a kitchen counter that you have to baby?!
You donāt use a saucer like a fancy lady?!
