I’d hate that, I’m not a big fan of going clothes shopping but at least it can be OK I’ll try on this specific item and I thus have a benchmark for all other items and don’t have to try them on.
I wear a suit every chance I get. When appropriate.
I guess I could wear a suit to the grocery store…
I wear one to church. When we have guests in the office. Weddings, funerals. Other parties like baptisms or Communions.
I was born 40 years too late.
I briefly wore a tie to the office but then relented. I wouldn’t mind wearing a suit to work too much.
OMG! So much this! My pants are almost always tight in the thighs. Do most men have chicken legs or something? The whole skinny pants thing that has been the recent style is killing me. I bought a couple pairs of sweatpants about a year ago and even those are tight.
Clearly you’ve got to stop skipping arm day in favor of leg day
I will never give up leg day. It’s the only lifting day I look forward to.
Correct
I mean I’m probably exaggerating. I’m on the short side but I have bought “petite” (5’4” & under) pants that were a good 4 inches too long, and while I’m short I’m not THAT short. But I know my 6 foot tall friend has trouble finding pants too. I wonder what my grandmother did? (She was also 6 feet. WHY did I not get her tall genes?)
I think I read that the average height for women in the US is 5’5” so I really don’t understand why 5’4” is considered “petite”.
Sounds like women are trouble no matter what size. I know it’s very tough for my 6’3" wife to find pants that are long enough.
Here’s an interesting blog post about “fit models”. https://www.petitepoire.ca/being-petite/advocacy/fit-model-proportions-who-are-clothes-made-for.html
And back to topic, yes, I agree that this being an issue for me is a sign that I have some degree of wealth. I have enough to buy decently made clothes that FIT, if I can find them.
But if I ever really get rich I’ll just have all my clothes custom made. I’m not quite there yet.
buy couture. everyone has such different body shapes.
If you’re a guy and slightly work out your legs most jeans would not fit you properly
I just bought two pairs of sneakers today. This is the first non golf shoes I have bought in 2-1/2 years. My everyday footwear is a pair of Olukai flip flops. I wear them as house shoes and casual shoes. The current pair has lasted 3 years now.
By “couture” you mean fancy shops? These do not cater to short and dumpy. You mean have my clothes made? $400/outfit is out of my price range except for Very Special Occasions.
couture means custom made, but also, I was joking.
Only millionaires buy couture, and even by millionaire standards that’s wasteful.
There’s MTM and then bespoke. Most people need MTM which is still technically ready to wear but with way more sizes than you’d find off the rack. MTM suits go for $500-$1500 while bespoke would be $3k+ if you get one in Asia and $10k+ if you’re getting it from Saville Row.
Shows what I (don’t) know about fashion.
What does Mary Tyler Moore have to do with men’s suits?
Decent thread, would not read again though
Too rich for your blood?
