Declining a meeting that could be an email

Or read goactuary!

My team used to be that way. We never scheduled meetings before 10am.

Then our team grew, and we picked up a couple of folks in India.

That 9 hour time difference (10 in winter) is annoying, given our prior preferences!

Rarely. I’m often asked to jump in and screen share something, and our department requests videos always on. I have very few slack off meetings anymore.

If you are watching youtube, you will look attentive on your webcam. Just saying…

I find I usually need to pay attention during meetings, because I don’t have a lot of useless ones. But if you are stuck in a useless virtual meeting, it’s pretty easy to tune it out.

Just do it imo and wear a wireless headset so you can keep interacting. In real life meetings you can get up to go pee and get water so I don’t see why you couldn’t do it while WFH.

I’m jealous! I’ve worked in roles with people in lots of time zones - and just busy people generally - and you end up having calls at 7 in the morning or 7 in the evening or whatever. Took some time before I realized I need to prioritize myself and judge what’s important and what I can skip.
