5/26/2021 - SLIDE SHOW
Slide the 18 letters surrounding the grid into the empty squares so that four words are formed reading across and five words are formed reading down. Letters above and below the grid slide vertically to any position without changing columns, and letters to the left and right slide horizontally to any position without changing rows. Each exterior letter is used only once. Two additional letters are already positioned in the grid. Can you slide all of the others into place?

Either I don’t understand this one, or there are some words I do not know.

Same! I can’t get anything started.

Summary

There only seems to be one option for the word starting with I but I can’t get anything going after that…

Summary

I thought it would be ASSET in the bottom row. Also tried starting with IDES. But getting stuck after that in both cases. The 5-letter word with the P, the 5-letter word with the K both seem challenging. The words outside lead me to think of OAKEN and PIANO, but their positions are not in the right spot, if I am understanding the prompt.

Summary

My thought for the word starting with I was that it also has to contain the E and the A for that column, and the only word I can think of that works with I, A, and E is IDEA.

I also thought it would be ASSET in the bottom row.

Summary

Of course it does! And of course it must be IDEA. I will noodle with that.

Summary

TOKEN in the third row seems like the next choice. But now I’m stuck.

Summary

TOKEN seems reasonable, but then I’m stuck trying to figure out column two since it must also contain H and S. The only word there I can think of is HISS. This seems similar to IDEA but now we have to use three consonants and fit a vowel in there somehow.

Summary

Haha. Hear is my completed grid:

That is close, but your top word is wrong!

Summary

Ah yes, I forgot seat is spelled with two s’s

:flushed: whoops, there was a typo. That bottom S of the second column should be a W. Sorry!!!

Err, I mean that S that was in the bottom row of the grid should have been a W.

Sorry you two! I feel bad that I didn’t notice the error for so long.

Do you mean the S that was given to us in the puzzle? The last letter of the column two word?

I’ve fixed the original post.

5/26

Summary

Lol. Was reading the discussion. That’s unfortunate.

Correct! Sorry again about that one :flushed:

5/27/2021 - UNMATCHED SET
You have five teacups with matching saucers, in five different colors. In how many ways can you place the cups on the saucers so that each cup is on a saucer, but no cup matches the color of the saucer it is on?
