Couldn’t get the last two on 12/29, but I did know the name of the island.

Solid ending run. These were almost always fairly straightforward, especially the logic puzzles, but still a nice distraction. Thanks BruteForce!

Crime Rhymes
Each clue leads to a 2-word answer that rhymes, such as BIG PIG or STABLE TABLE. The numbers in parentheses after the clue give the number of letters in each word (editors note: I will blur these, to be used as a hint, if needed). For example, "cookware taken from the over 3,3 " would be “HOT POT”.

  1. A smooth, carefully-executed robbery might be called this - 4,5:
  2. The suspect had a witness that he was baking desserts at the time of the crime, giving him this - 3,5:
  3. The arsonist was said to do this - 6,4:
  4. To pick up someone who might have done the crime for questioning - 7,7:
  5. This resentful forger of money gave information on his former colleagues - 6,13:
  6. The private detective who had a side job as a toll collector was called this - 9,6:
  7. The robbery in the nautical museum was called this - 8,5:
  8. The plan to defraud the lottery was known as this - 7,4:

The blur does not seem to be working. Any tips or tricks? Maybe it doesn’t work on a indented row?

Mealtime Crime
Cryptograms are messages in a substitution code. Break the code to read the message. For example, THE SMART CAT might become FVO QWGDF JGF if F is substituted for T, V for H, O for E, and so on.

  1. the spoiler works fine for mewhen indenting

Are you writing it like this “[spoiler]” followed by “[ /spoiler]” (without the space before the slash)?

the crypto used 22 letters, would have been cool to use all 26

Yes, however not with quotes.

It was the parentheses that were causing the problems. I erased them and now it works. Interested if someone can help explain/understand why.

1/1/2022 - Here Or There

The longest word in the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham, and the only word containing more than one syllable, can be formed by rearranging eight of the letters in the phrase HAPPY NEW YEAR. What is that word?

1/2/2022 - Office Treat

Fancy cupcakes come in boxes of 3, 4, 5, or 6. Shanice comes to the office with seven boxes containing a total of 32 cupcakes. One way she could have done this is with boxes of 6, 6, 5, 4, 4, 4, and 3. (Different arrangements of the same boxes are not a different set, so 4, 3, 6, 5, 4, 6, 4 is the same group.) Including that set, how many different ways could Shanice have purchased seven boxes containing 32 cupcakes?

I count 6 sets, but I’m not convinced that my list is exhaustive:
{3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6}
{3, 3, 4, 4, 6, 6, 6}
{3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6}
{3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6} (given set)
{4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 6, 6}
{4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5}

Yep, not exhaustive .

I get 10 sets:

Are there any more?
