Speaking of, I’ve had a cold (seems COVID-negative) for the past day.
Been following the same protocol. Masked everywhere except sleeping (separate rooms, door closed, windows open, fan on) and office (same situation.) I’ll quickly eat dinner unmasked next to the screen door and window while we watch TV. At that time I’m 25 feet away from partner, with partner next to open windows, then I mask again as soon as done eating. Drop my plates in the sink, partner deals with it then washes hands.
We haven’t spread an illness within the household since COVID started.
I just realized I traveled by air and did not get Covid nor even a cold—and it’s been more than a year since my last booster.
My house is small. When hubby got Covid in 2020 I wore a mask around him at first. I left him in the master bedroom (so he had his own bathroom) and I only went in there to bring him sustenance. It’s highly likely that I was exposed prior to him getting symptoms.
And yeah I got sick fairly quickly, as did my daughter who had less exposure than I did.
But that was the old Covid. We haven’t had it since, knock wood.
So covid is less virulent now? Symptoms aren’t as bad?
Because I’ve still never had it (or had it, without symptoms) even though it ravaged our house twice. And we didn’t isolate inside the house either time. The infected stayed home, but at home, we didn’t sleep in seperate bedrooms or eat seperately or anything.
I’d like to continue to not get it, but I dunno how long that will last. Long covid disturbs me.
My wife has long COVID. It’s the working theory as to why she had a small stroke earlier this year.
I’m going to continue to be extra-dilligent when it comes to guarding against COVID. Long COVID is not I want to have to deal with any more than I already have to.
Hoping it’s just a summertime cold, but I’m making arrangements to get a COVID test kit just in case I’ve become a member of the three-timers club.
I’m going to have to add “ophthalmologist’s office” to the list of places where I still routinely mask it seems, as that’s the only place I’ve been in over a week. (I had cut back to "primary care doctors’ offices, hospitals, and pain management.)
