My wife was a working actuary until her early 30s. She went back to work after our third child was born but we never got the childcare situation satisfactorily set up: she decided to be a stay at home mother. I was travelling a lot internationally at the time and we had no parents nearby to help with grandkids. My wife never was excited about being an actuary so she didn’t feel she was giving up much by concentrating on raising our kids. She did a superb job on that front and certainly made my life easier.

Not a wild story, but when my wife buys groceries and says she bought the “cheaper” option without looking at the price per unit always gets me. Yes, the chips are a dollar less but the bag is half the size.

Thanks for your on topic reply. That is exactly the type of story I am looking for. It reminds me of the spouse that would put the buy one get one free items on their shopping list, and then only come home with a single item.
Maybe your next story is: “When I ask actuaries something, I never get any useful responses.”
As actuaries we feel it’s our responsibility to give you a better topic than you could have thought of yourself
