Great concept, but I think this was the easiest one I’ve done so far. Maybe it was the order I saw them, but I didn’t notice any overlap at all.

5 states PA, LA, ME, CO, MA
and I wasn’t sure if the note was spelled ME or MI, that was my miss
and even without overlap, i couldn’t be 100% sure of all the letters or elements, so the doubt was enough
LA is also a postal state abbreviation and a chemical symbol, Co, Pa, Ti are also chemical symbols. And of course, ni is things that certain knights say.

LA was the only overlap I saw and knew note was MI. Was slightly uncertain about XI as agree letter but took shot.

My first guess was ma pa he me for things you could call a person.
I don’t know my elements or Greek letters, so this one was quite difficult

Reading through the hidden messages, I didn’t have any of those words in my quiz today. I had words like sneaker, are, yard.
Interesting. I don’t have a NYT games subscription, and it says “Beta” when I find link. I had a grid of 16 2 letter words.
same. But any days I don’t solve it I probably had a different puzzle than everyone else.
It was set to genius level in a language other than the 8 you are fluent in. 
But “it” is singular.
