Ford’s been learning lessons from south of the border.
Ford is definitely a populist.
However, he’s very good at being a populist. He does some pretty stupid and crooked stuff, but he also does some pretty good stuff. Stuff that people nod there head and say ‘finally’.
On one hand he does stuff like put a family member in a paid role that they were completely unqualified for. And he’s sold off some properties that never should’ve been touched. Lots of borderline stuff with this guy.
Then he does stuff like open beer and liquor sales into local stores instead of only govt controlled facilities. Like, finally. And he’s building another highway across toronto, which for anyone near there is a godsend.
I saw the poll, and while I don’t doubt the accuracy of it, it’s my opinion that if an election were held today, he’s win a majority govt again. which is why he gets away with it the poll says 20% but I think most people would say he’s actually pretty popular wheres the discrepancy?
Ford’s smart enough to be able to backtrack sometimes. In a politician that’s actually pretty rare. He sold that jet back after the uproar.

Been finalising the details of our trip to Disneyland Paris online in July, and there seems to be a large contingent of Canadians visiting DLP this year because they do not want to cross the border into the US to visit Disney in either CA or FL.
That does tell you that attitudes towards visiting the US are hardening because DLP is a long way from Canada (vs US).
