Yes, it’s a regular 4th of July type of day. Nobody works (except me I guess).Every store is closed. Lots of face-painting type of activities, fireworks everywhere tonite. Big family/kids day, and more recently there’s some first nations recognitions.
In our little town we had an indigeneous sunrise ceremony at 7am. Every year I think I’m going to go, every year it’s like 7am and I’m at home enjoying my coffee so, no.
I do miss having a huge serving of 5cent chicken wings back in Ottawa (this was 90s so probably a lot more expensive now) during Canada Day celebrations.
We usually ended up near the Parliament buildings/Canal area if it was a sunny day.
Did you ever see a guy on the lawn reading all day?

So much flag waving this July 1. More like an American 4th of July than a Canadian celebration!
