The fees take out such a huge chunk (both, right off the bat and slowly every year as well) that I’d honestly never buy one unless I had millions in the bank already and millions more coming in the door.

Um, wondering why you’d need an annuity with millions in the bank.

Also, Vanguard had a portal (they redirected you outside Vanguard), but an earlier poster said that’s gone.

Note that deferring SS benefits amounts to buying a CPI indexed life annuity. Back when I cared, I thought Social Security had better rates than any private insurer.
