It was hard to submit comments, when several were not my first choice. For breaking the ties on A and B, a majority on A wanted to try for slam. A majority on B wanted to try for game.
The comments I submitted:
A. With a decent six card suit, Axx in partner’s suit and a side A and singleton, surely worth some slam try. The drawback is that partner cannot show a first round control below 4H.
B. vul at imps, not passing. Let partner know that a diamond card would fit well with our hand
C. Since diamonds is a likely source of tricks, this is the best start
D. Too good to quit
E. It’s matchpoints. This might be a good fit, and diamonds is likely bad.
F. We have a heart stopper, and diamonds are likely to run.
G. With this strong heart holding, go for 3NT
H. we know our side has a 5-card diamond suit. We don’t know which major, if either, has 5 cards.
I especially had trouble defending the choice on E. Like 4Sigma, I would have preferred 2H to 2S (strongly preferring P to both) but couldn’t justify submitting anything besides 2S.
