Penultimate guess was a much more obscure word than they typically use, so perhaps a poor guess. OTOH, only off 0.02, so it has to be considered a good guess, I think.

Lots of guesses there. For the first time, I recorded by progress. Came up with an evaluation system, that while generous, says I made only made one bad guess. That system:

Suppose closes too low guess was high by x and low by y. This guess was OK if is was high by less than x/2 or low by y/2. By that scoring, my only bad guess started between low by .50 and high by 2.6. To be OK, if low, it had to be within .25. It was low by .41. OTOH, I did reduce the total range for 3.1 to .91, so a pretty big improvement. Maybe the evaluation measure needs further thought

Another example, that didn’t occur today but could occur. Suppose I was in a position of knowing a low by 0.1 and an high by 5. Being as close as .1, regardless of direction, means I should stay very close. High by 2.5 should not be remotely OK. Saying that if high had to be within 0.05 likely too strict.
