I used to, but no more. If I remember what percentile my old first guess was - which I didn’t, well enough, recently - , an off-center guess leaves me much better placed after 1 if the word is in the smaller segment, and the same as before if in the larger segment.
Despite that strategy change, I still normally do worse than you.
