Have you been recorded in public against your will? By phone or pervert glasses?
Can they create a type of flashlight that if pointed at the recorder, would cause it to record only white light?
Would that be a solution to unwanted recordings?
I’m not sure that your “will” is going to be overly relevant in discussions around things done in a public space.

By “against your will”, do you mean you specifically stated you did not want to be recorded or recorded without asking permission? My spouse and adult sons were unknowingly recorded while we were on vacation for some prank that showed up on Instagram. The only way we found out about it weeks later was someone recognized my son and showed it to him. The thought of being secretly recorded for public display for mindless entertainment is kind of creepy.

Wear a t-shirt with a unique, custom statement created by you printed upon it.
Sue anyone who copies and distributes that statement by virtue of videorecording you for copyright infringement.
There’s a decent chance you’d lose the suit, but if you are aggressive and obnoxious enough with your litigation, and if enough other people adopted similar tactics, folks would take greater care to obtain permission to record due to the potential cost and nuisance.
I’ve wondered about when people use the video specifically for commercial gain, like posting on their monetizing sites. I know that many TV shows (Amazing Race) will blur out people for whom they can’t get signed waivers which is one of the reasons some teams simply wander around rather than asking someone because their minders will have to stop and get the waivers signed so it can slow them down.
Are the rules for network TV different than for Youtube or Tik Tok or Instagram/Facebook?

I think the key difference is that TV has lawyers to advise their production crews, deeper pockets that attract litigation, and media liability insurance where the underwriters seek out the presence of policies/procedures requiring such behavior.

I remember seeing online that women where saying to sing or play Disney songs to prevent creeps from videoing them since Disney is very protective of it’s IP.

That might stop the audio component. Maybe you could use sign language to sing the song? Or just wear Mickey Mouse ears in public?

I’ve been to graduations and funerals that have been posted on YouTube.
Doesn’t work if it is ABC or ESPN.
I think the main concern is being recorded by social media vigilantes and/or clout seekers and not a media giant.
